FX cards use trilinear filtering on the first texture stage, BUT do NOT apply any sort of trilinear or filtering at all to other texture stages
No drivers settings can get rid of this kind of filtering, and it happens on ALL games, whereas the ATI cards only use the method for Ut2k3 and you can get rid of it and tell it to use the application settings
