Default Why cant I run at 2048x1536 with nvidia drivers

Why can i not even run at 2048x1536 with the linux nvidia drivers, what is up?
my video card is geforce 2 ultra, and im running slackware 8.1 using xfree86 4.2.0
heres what i get in the log..

now, why does it say unkown mode for 2048x1536? wtf? it ends up running @ 1920x1440 instead, thats ghetto
