Without benches, it's hard to quantify "unecessary".
I believe that, the extra VRAM
could help the card in high res with high AA situations. With Could being the operative word. However, this is theory and we should wait for actual benchmarks
I applaud Galaxy's efforts to differentiate from other AiB partners and design cards that are not reference based. This time with what seems to be better cooling gear. The extra vram...well we will have to wait and see
