I lap all my chips. Makes a huge difference most the time, worst results I've had was only dropped 5 deg c - still worth it imo. I had a few that dropped ~15c loaded and allowed the chip to OC about 300 Mhz higher.
It has always allowed for higher OC (even if its slight), lower temps and less voltage needed after it was lapped.
