Default Re: Driver works with onboard 8200 but not with 8400gs PCIe

I switched back to the onboard 8200 and installed nvidia 180.44 drivers while installing some other applications.
reinstalling the 8400 to perform you instructions.

After selection those options and restarting I get another error message
Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode
(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Coompatible NVIDIA X driver not found)

After trying the same options and restart again I get a different screen with the following error.

There already appears to be an X server running on dissplay :0.
Should another display number be tried? Answering no will cause GDM to attempt starting the server on :0 again.
(You can change consoles by pressing Ctrl-Alt plus a function key, such as Ctrl-Alt-F7 to go to console 7.
X servers usually run on consoles 7 and higher.)

Then a <yes> or <no> choice.

Choosing no restarts with the same as above
Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode
(EE) Failed to initialize GLX extension (Coompatible NVIDIA X driver not found)

Choosing Yes lets me start another low graphics session with the desktop
