thefirstm, I have linked for now to your PPA.

As mentioned in my original post , I have never had any luck with nvidia drivers but that is due to my inexperience I'm sure. Now that gnome is using xorg.conf less and less, I am less enthused about learning nuances.

Will post back if I have success, when have a chance to pursue this further.
