Default need help configuring xorg.conf for a 9600 GSO

I have a GeForce 9600 GSO, which used to work using Ubuntu's restricted driver. I've recently replaced Ubuntu with Debian and now I can only get X to start by using the xserver-xorg-video-nv package. First I uninstalled the nv driver, then I downloaded the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-180.51-pkg1.run installer and ran it with the --kernel-source-path option and the installer completed successfully. Then I ran nvidia-xconfig and restarted X, but it failed. If I comment out the line
Code:
Driver "nvidia"
X will start, albeit without utilizing the nvidia driver, of course. This is the X error:
Code:
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device PCI:2:0:0.
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Please see the COMMON PROBLEMS section in the README for
(EE) NVIDIA(0): additional information.
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device!
(II) UnloadModule: "nvidia"
(II) UnloadModule: "wfb"
(II) UnloadModule: "fb"
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.

Fatal server error:
