Default 173.14.18 stops working on snv-116

It was working fine under snv-112; I did liveupgrade yesterday, after that obviously the newly installed latest NVidia driver did not work on the Quadro FX500 card in the machine in question, so I replaced it with 173.14.18, as expected.

Xorg -configure fails with:

It seems the driver will have to be recompiled to enable latest Nevada versions to make use of legacy NVidia cards.

I will post the same message on OpenSolaris message boards as well.

I was able to get the system to work with the nv driver after uninstalling NVDAgraphics[r] packages and running

svccfg -s application/opengl/ogl-select setprop options/vendor = mesa
svcadm restart application/opengl/ogl-select

(on an unrelated to NVidia issue I am having problem with this nv driver - the mouse is constantly jumping to the top left corner; the previous snv-112 environment still works fine, so it is not a hardware problem)
