The 9600 will be a very cheap route to a much better upgrade early next year. My 9700p died, so I just bought a 9600p to make do. I'm not going to spend another 300 on a 9800p. The 9600 is great, and to be honest it still plays games great. Granted it is slower, but if you just knock the res down from 1280 to 1024 and keep AA on it's almost as good. I thought I'd be unhappy, but it's actually not bad. The amazing thing about the 9600 is the heatsink. You'll be shocked when you see it. It looks and feels like chrome plated plastic! And it's tiny. Compare it next to your 5800.
