Samsungs are weird like that. I tried to set up a friends samsung and ran in to the same issue. Yours might need "the trick" done.

"The trick" is to use HDMI 2 and name the input pc. Really though, if your pushing 1080p over VGA and text is sharp with no scaling your not going to see a major difference. In my experience it isnt worth the price of an HDMI cable. Get a new mouse pad and a burger.
