Obviously some naysayers will cast a jaundiced eye towards such an upgrade. I mean afterall, you're already running a quad and it's overclocked to a decent degree.

What you gain is triple channel RAM, onboard memory controller (and compared to the older version FSB it really is much quicker) and, if nothing else, what appears to be a good upgrade path to i9 in the future.

For me, I went from a c2d E6700 @ 3.2 to an i7 @ 3.8 and the difference is night and it should be.
