Default Autodetect frequency problems openSUSE 11.x

eVGA 8400GS PCI
Samsung Syncmaster 173P 1280x1024 17inch
nvidia driver 190.40 (and 180.x)

Framebuffer mode works perfectly from liveCD/DVD.

Otherwise:
1. Auto detect OK on resolution, but screen display is off the monitor to the left by about 1cm and inside monitor on right by 2cm. Pixels look good on auto.
2. Autodetect frequency is as for 60Hz (which is how macOS system sees the same display working properly). Changing frequency to 75Hz results in a full screen with slightly fuzzy pixels.
3. Gnome display preferences is picking up an incorrect frequency, presumably from the nvidia driver. When nvidia xserver settings GUI is showing a choice of frequency 60 or 75Hz detecting a Samsung Syncmaster 1280x1024, Gnome display preferences shows refresh rate 50 and 51 with undetectable monitor of resolution 1280x1024.

Problems are very similar with openSUSE 11.1, except the Gnome erroneous frequencies are different - 57Hz being equivalent to 75Hz for nvidia software. Problem persists on 190.40RC driver.

I'd post a screenshot but that is presently broken in openSUSE 11.2RC1.
