It's a common misconception that 64bit is only good for 4GB+ of ram. It's mostly about memory address space which 32bit is limited.

Applications take more memory in 64bit as it should and is not limited like 32bit is. As applications become more complex ,they need to access more memory and if allowed will work faster.
