wmhobbes, are you sure you don't have a 240M card? I find it odd that anyone has this working on the GT 240 because even the README doesn't list it as supported.
Can anyone else tell me if they have this card working in Linux with the nvidia driver?

Just for the hell of it, I tried once again, using all three packages (I tried one at a time):

All resulted in the same black screen and locked system when attempting to start X.
I could not change virtual terminals but was able to use the magic system request key (Alt+SysRq+B) to reboot the machine.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64.
