I preffer cables for my stationary stuff as well. but this WiGig would be great for home laptop use.

you can get up to 7Gbps in rather small area, lets say room. standard is wi-fi compatible as well. when you are close to the WiGig router get high speed connections, when you move away it drops to 802.11n for example.
