Default 4K in Linux?

A client has asked whether we can build a set up to drive a Sony SRXT105 at 4096x2160 resolution. Looking at the specs, it appears that this projector takes 4 DVI Dual-Link inputs to drive 4 quadrants at 2048x1080 each.

I'm thinking that the computer would have 2 PCIE x16 slots, and I'd stuff a Quadro FX 5800 in each. I'd run two DVI cables from each of those into the Sony.

Then I'd set up my Xorg.conf to build a virtual desktop spanning these 4 display areas, and spread our rendering over the whole thing.

Does anyone here see any show-stopper problems with this approach?

Anyone here done anything like this before?
