Nvidia has 3 monitor support in their new drivers without 3d party hardware needed.
AMDs does NOT have open 3d like you think. Period. They might plan to but you cannot buy hardware to do it now unless you buy IZ3d.
You forgot a little issue there i think,in that triple monitor can be used with a single card with ATI,regardless if it's 2D or 3D,while with nvidia,you need an SLI setup,as each card only has 2 outputs...
And users can choose which type of display size they want and what games they play more often and choose a model of card that's suited for it too,they don't have to automatically choose the fastest HD5*** card to have decent performance.
