Aside from PhysX which is already doing work on GPU.

Well,there's always working with procedural rendering techniques,rather than always going with higher an higher resolution textures which are reaching their limits IQ wise,that end up using a huge load of video card memory just to store them there,and with shader power now having hit some pretty respectable performance numbers,maybe direct compute will start making it's mark in rendering shader intensive graphics effects..
