the 480's dont run at full throttle... mines clocks down about halfway with the core clock running at just above 400 mhz. But with 1 monitor it runs at under 100 hence the thermal difference. Pherhaps they'll find was to further lower the clocks when in dual monitor mode. Overall I'm real pleased with the performance of my single 480.. but it's not for the faint of heart... seeing your chip running in the mid 90's is a scary sight. Plus, to me, given I've been spoiled with watercooling, it sounds real loud. To anybody considering getting one of these beasts, if you can go watercooled, by all means do it. It's the only way I can recommend these cards.
