Re: So Many XP Users Still
If old apps don't work install them with Virtual machine XP mode.
I just setup a print server at work replacing an XP machine with Win 7 Pro 64-bit. I got two 4 year old RIP system programs to work with a little bit of mucking around not having to resort to Virtual machine. One worked fine without hiccups, I only had problems copying media profiles across where I tried to do a selective copy and I didn't replace some linked files the first time.
The other program needed me to download the latest driver for the USB security key. After This I had problems with installing the printer driver, but it didn't matter. I thought it was keeping the printer from printing, but after running the program as administrator and with compatibility for XP SP3 it worked flawlessly.
So that's two XP system's replaced so far at my work as well as one additional Win 7 machine added early in the year.
