If I'm switching from ATi to nVidia. Uninstall ATi drivers using the
driver that's currently installed. So if 10.3 was on my system I'd run it
and select uninstall all ATi software. Boot into safe mode. Run driver
cleaner, clear my prefetch folder then shut down. Remove the ATi card
then install the nVidia card. Start in safe mode and let the standard VGA
driver install. Restart in safe mode and install the nVidia driver. Boot
For upgrading nVidia drivers. Remove the driver in safe mode. Restart in
safe mode and let the standard VGA driver install. Restart in safe mode.
Install the new nVidia driver. Boot normally.
I dont think you even have to do that much.
I uninstalled ATI profiles, then the drivers. Did not reboot. Ran driver cleaner for ATI display and cleaned, that asked me to reboot, at which point I shutdown and changed GPUs. Installed Nvidia drivers and was good to go.
