I thought (keyword being THOUGHT) that you could only have up to a 300w TDP card in any pci-e interface.
That's the main reason why my BS flag is flying high currently, we'll see how it goes...
PCI-e slot: 75 watts
6-pin power: 75 watts
8-pin power: 150 watts
If you put the card in a PCI-e slot and put 2 8-pin power connectors on the card, you've got a maximum TDP of 375 watts. I don't see that as being far fetched, even though it does break the pci-e 300w maximum standard.
