The chances of bricking an Android device are infinitely small. If you don't believe, go to www.androidforums.com
and do a search for "brick". Many threads will come up where people THINK they have bricked their phone, but I don't recall ever seeing one where people from the forum were not able to help the person get their phone back.
As to the warranty, this is technically true, however in my first hand experience, this is not the case. For example, my brother's screen died on his Droid. We took it in to VZW, I flat out told them it was rooted, and they didn't care. They just replaced the Droid. That said, I will add this to my warning in the first post...Thanks!
