I'm wanting to get an internal bluray drive to start storing all these files and stuff that's crowding up my harddrives, primarily recording sessions that are 10+ gigs each. My drives are quickly getting filled and I'm out of space for another 1Tb drive and don't want to bother with an external drive as it too would eventually fill up. I'd prefer disks anyways for easier archival in a CD book or something like that.
Newegg has the LG 10x drive for $130 or a Pioneer 12x for $200.
After reading the reviews for both drives, it looks like the read speed is the same (8x) for both drives and that the LG drive may or may not include software. I've got nero and imgburn I use for writing disks and it seems that everyone that bought it and put it in win7 machines had no issues with drivers or anything.
If I'm not really that worried about prolonged burn times on the slower LG drive, is the Pioneer STILL worth that extra $75?
Several guys here indicate that you can't actually watch bluray movies using the Pioneer drive?!? WTF??
