It's well worth it so far. A newer laptop would handle KDE just fine I think, and it does take a bit of getting used to for someone who's used some 'buntu derivative for years now, but everything I could possibly use is on the DVD.

May sound a bit trite, but openSUSE feels much more like a full featured distro that could cater to anyone right out of the box than Ubuntu does.

Heh, I remember when just the thought of dealing with non-deb rpms used to make me cry Speaking of which, yast does an excellent job of dealing with dependencies so far, but the interface isn't quite as intuitive as synaptic.

And I just might get that new laptop too
