Thanks, that's what I thought.

The reason I ask is that I found a used 9600GT on eBay which works fine without the 6 pin power connector, but with one plugged in shows the tell-tale glitches of a semi-fried card straight away on the POST screen.

The Nvidia settings panel and nvclock were giving conflicting core clock speeds (when I could get to them before the screen locked up completely), so I thought I'd make sure it'd be at stock speeds on POST to rule out software issues.

At least the eBay seller accepts returns...
