Re: Rally on the Supreme Court to Defend Video Games!
Nation Youth Rights Association?
Here's the rights that youths should have:
1. The right to go to school and receive a fair, but equal education.
2. The right to food, clothing, and shelter.
... and last, and certainly not least.
3. The right to do as they're told.
The rights of youth are limited because if they were given all the rights/privileges that adults are entitled to, they would make foolish decisions without thinking about the consequences of their actions. You want to know how I know that? Because I was a kid not too long ago, and I made a lot of foolish decisions. Fortunately, I was able to learn from those decisions and become a better person because of it.
The negative stereotypes that you claim to be in place on young people and gamers are indeed negative in nature. However, consider the content that is in today's games. Murder, violence, profanity, and sexuality are the norm. As adults, we've experienced a lot of these things first hand already in our lives (hopefully not murder....) Because of this experience, we have learned and bettered ourselves as human beings. This sort of stuff is a part of counter culture as we know it and should not reach the eyes and ears of our youth until they are mature enough to handle it.
As t3hl33td4rg0n said, I really don't think you're going to get much support here. Most of us are adults and we have a lot more experience than you do to support our reasoning in this issue.
