Default Re: Official "I just got a Geforce GTX 4xx/5xx thread"

Got my pair of 580s today. Awesome cards. They run a little cooler than my old 285s, so I have a foot warmer instead of a space heater under the desk.

Performance wise, these cards are f'ing awesome, easily playing everything I threw at 'em at max in game settings (gonna have to play with the control panel settings now and start overriding AA settings) at 2560x1600. New Vegas is a lite snack for these cards, and the camera lag is now completely gone. BFBC2 single player was slick and smooth. Black Ops usually ran at the game's cap of 90 fps, although it occasionally dipped down as far as the low sixties.

Crysis Warhead was a revelation. I set it for 8x AA and Enthusiast settings for everything, figuring it'd still be a slide show. I loaded up the back half of shore leave, and I was getting 40 to 50 fps fighting through the jungle. The lowest I saw was 30 FPS from the waterfall overlooking the harbor, as I blasting away with the sniper rifle. That was the most amazing thing I've ever saw on a screen; I'm gonna have to play Warhead all the way through again, and now I can't wait for Crysis 2.
