I think the FX 5800 was Nvidia's only card ever released that had almost no shelf time. It seemed like they released the FX 5800, and then about 24 hours later, they released the FX 5900 and discontinued the 5800. The GTX 480 was no where near the abysmal quality that the FX 5800 was plagued with. The GTX 480 actually played games pretty well, even though the chip was crippled.
I honestly think the only failure that was worse than the FX 5800 card was the cooler on the card... jet turbine
