It's the Nvidia video driver that is causing the oops. The kernel is tainted by the Nvidia video driver. The kernel developers are not interested in opps caused by tainted kernels.

I also can't burn CDs with out the machine freezing. I can replicate this on two different systems, one Intel based core, the other NForce/AMD core. What is common is geForce video cards.
The machines will burn CDs if X is not started.
