I bought three years ago a pc with these spec.
SO: Windows Vista - Upgraded successfully
to Windows 7 + Fedora 14 with dual boot
Graphics: Nvidia 8600gts
Ram: 2gb - upgraded to 3gb
CPU: Intel Core Quad Q6600
Mainboard: Foxconn pt890-8237 (
I never had problems problems till yesterday when my pc crashed while I was playing. After reboot i saw lines&points on the screen (pretty much like this
) and I concluded that the video card ram was damaged. Later I confirmed this because with a very old PCI card there were no problems.
I have ran to buy a new video card to replace mine and I choosed a Zotac Nvidia 240gt.
Unfortunately Windows 7 have refused to start: bsod "Bios not fully ACPI compliant" (described here
). Fedora 14 with the official Nvidia driver works very well.
There is nothing on the official Foxconn site but I managed to find a bios update on this
forum. But still there are no ACPI settings on my bios setup screen... (only a greyed out acpi: s3).
Now I'm downgrading to winXP which can run without ACPI...
Someone has suggestions to help me keep windows 7 ?
