I have a i7 920 up to 4.2GHz without any issues 100% stable from the release of the D0 CPU running at 1.275v. The only other voltage I raised was CPU VTT to 1.2v.
I would suggest that you do this the correct method and start from stock clock and voltage. Lower the memory multiplier so that it does not limit you and start working your way up. Keep increasing clock until you lose stability at which point add CPU voltage. Once you find your max either through stability or max temperature then set your memory. If you are unstable due to memory add to the CPU VTT voltage.
