Default Re: Blank Screen on HP EliteBook 8540w with NVIDIA driver

I had to tweak your kernel config for my Ubuntu system. Finally I was able to boot the new kernel without any errors. Your xorg.conf does not work for me. I always get the following error:
[ 445.014] drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
[ 445.014] drmOpenDevice: open result is 8, (OK)
[ 445.014] drmOpenByBusid: Searching for BusID pci:0000:01:00.0
[ 445.014] drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0
[ 445.015] drmOpenDevice: open result is 8, (OK)
[ 445.015] drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 8
[ 445.015] drmOpenByBusid: drmGetBusid reports pci:0000:01:00.0
[ 445.015] (EE) [drm] failed to open device
[ 445.015] (EE) No devices detected.
[ 445.015]
Fatal server error:
[ 445.015] no screens found
[ 445.015]
Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
 for help.
I then installed the latest Nvidia driver released today (270.26) which increased the available resolution to 1280x1024 (no xorg.conf used).

Trying to add the 1920x1080 resolution using xrandr, or any other resolution above 1280x1024 was not successful.

I think only time will solve this issue for me.
