Yeah, caveat emptor when bying new Nvidia-based laptop intented to run Linux these days... Hope there will always be non-Optimus options available in the higher end laptop ranges. Otherwise my next laptop will not be Nvidia-based. And yes .. Stuff like Optimus should be controllable from BIOS (i.e. option to disable COMPLETELY or select which graphics chipset to enable), to ease the situation for OS-es other than Windows.
