I wired a frat house when I was in undergrad. I did 26 connections and laid all the cable myself. It didn't take me very long and I had no prior experience. I am sure you could do just as well.

If you're going to wire it, then use CAT6 and get gigabit devices. With Wireless N typically at speeds greater than 100Mbit, it doesn't make sense to do a 100Mbit network. A gigabit connection should give you about 120MBps of bandwidth, which is more than enough for file sharing.
