Unhappy Redhat kernel 2.4.20-24.9 and GeForce 2 MX

Howdy,

Redhat recently released kernel version 2.4.20-24.9 to address a number of security issues. I upgraded my machine to this kernel and then re-ran the installation program (sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run) to recompile the kernel module. Upon starting X, I get what's supposed to be the "Nvidia" splash screen but it looks garbled and the display locks up. I am able to get into the machine via ssh to restart it thankfully.

My configuration is as follows:

ASUS A7N266-VM Motherboard
Athlon XP (I think 2200)
NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX (generic)
Redhat Linux 9
Viewsonic A75f monitor

Please note that I did not have any problems with the previous kernel (2.4.20-20.9).
