Thank you for figuring out and implementing this!

I tried the vesa driver, but it bombed out complaining that the interface was already claimed. So no luck. But there was some good news - the mini-displayport in this XPS 15 is attached to the intel GPU, so we managed to get HDMI working via an adapter cable.

Some more feedback: I upgraded the kernel to 2.6.39-rc7 today and everything worked smoothly, there was no need for me to reinstall bumblebee. Most excellent.
