I run a multiseat machine with two VGA cards: a GeForce 6200 (AGP) and a GeForce 8400 GS (PCIe). Until recently, both cards worked well with NVidia's driver 260.19.44 on a 64Bit-Linux.
Upgrading to kernel 2.6.39 I could not compile this driver any more. So I took the newest driver 275.09.07 and tried that one. It compiled well, but when I start kdm only the AGP card comes up. The PCIe card crashes. But
: I am still able to start Xorg on this card separately. It's just that I can't start both X-servers simultaneously any longer as it used to work with the old driver.
This is the same for any driver after 260.19.44.
So I looked around and found this thread:
I did what "towo|" suggested in the second article, using the 260.19.44 driver and now both cards are working simultaneously again with kernel 2.6.39. I tried this on more recent drivers, but this line of code
#include <linux/smp_lock.h> /* kernel_locked
does not exist any longer in nv-linux.h after 260.19.44.
According to the readme, both cards are still supported by the newest driver.
What can I do to use the newest driver?
