I have got that very problem as well... although I don't play a lot of games that isn't really an Issue for me... yet I would think that my athlon-xp 2100 1024mb DDR333 and geforce fx 5200 should be able to push glxgears a bit further then 1500fps. I have tried different driver versions as well without success.
