Default Re: HDMI audio eradicates other sound devices?

Both sound systems seem to show up all the time as far as the tools go, I just never hear any sound
via the CK804 any more. Here's the current aplay output (but I'm booted with the special EDID at the
moment, don't know if that changes things):

zooty> aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 7: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 8: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 9: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: CK804 [NVidia CK804], device 0: Intel ICH [NVidia CK804]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: CK804 [NVidia CK804], device 2: Intel ICH - IEC958 [NVidia CK804 - IEC958]
Subdevices: 1/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Thinking about this though, maybe I should plug in some separate speakers. Perhaps the problem is the
same as the one that the EDID gimmick was invented for - somehow the TV itself thinks it is getting
HDMI audio and no longer is willing to play the analog audio sound (but I couldn't get any sound through
the DVI->HDMI cable either :-).
