I was very happy to see that after installing the latest 2.6.0 kernel the agpgart works!!!!
I compiled inkernel agpgart with the amd64-gart.
during bootup it DID NOT scan the bus. hmm
I set NvAgp to "3" in XF86
modprobe the new rebuilt nvidia.ko and guess what showed up in dmesg?

agpgart: Found an AGP 3.0 compliant device at 0000:00:00.0.

and in agp/status

my glxgears /* default popup size */ went to 2650 fps

All bow to the new kernel!
