Open a terminal and do these. FYI - I don't remember if the "install" command is required before the "--reinstall". It's been a while.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --reinstall ALSA
sudo apt-get install --reinstall pulseaudio
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
This will open that file in gedit (kind of like notepad, but better) for you. Add the line at the bottom, save and close.
options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1
Lastly, in the terminal again he used what you see, enter each line followed by enter,.
sudo alsa force-reload
Now cross fingers <-very important
