Install fresh driver version you want to test, open up terminal and and launch something like this:
Code:
[lexa2@lx2linux ~]$ glxinfo | grep swap
    GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_SGI_swap_control,
    GLX_EXT_swap_control, GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap, GLX_ARB_create_context,
    GLX_NV_swap_group, GLX_NV_video_out, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig, GLX_SGIX_pbuffer,
    GLX_SGI_swap_control, GLX_EXT_swap_control, GLX_ARB_create_context,
    GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_SGI_swap_control,
    GLX_EXT_swap_control, GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap, GLX_ARB_create_context,
In case GLX_EXT_swap_control_tear appears in the output above - this extension had been added to nVIDIA linux drivers and is available for general use. It hadn't been the case up to the driver version 290.03. Hadn't tested it with latest released driver from 290.x series yet.
