Help! Can't decide: 60 Hz IPS or 120 Hz TN
I am planning on getting an ASUS PA238Q for my upcoming build but something about me says to look into 120Hz TN monitors as the difference in gaming is huge (according to what people have said about 60 Hz vs. 120 Hz).
What should I do? Here are the specs of my build:
Processor: Intel Core i7-3930K ($599.99)
Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100 ($103.74)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD3 ($269.99)
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz CMZ16GX3M4X1600C9 ($86.99)
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce 560 Ti 448 Cores Classified ($289.99)
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD ($141.74)
SSD: Corsair Performance Pro Series 256 GB ($419.99)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB WD1002FAEX ($239.99)
Optical drive: Sony Optiarc AD-7280S ($20.99)
Power supply: Corsair Professional Series Gold AX850 ($179.99)
Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 650D ($191.47)
Monitor: ASUS PA238Q ($279.99)
Speakers: Corsair Gaming Audio Series SP2500 ($224.99)
Keyboard: Microsoft SideWinder X4 ($49.99)
Mouse: Logitech G9x ($54.99)
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
I love to play FPS games so the importance of 120 Hz is there but at the same time would like the quality of an IPS monitor. However, I've noticed some have said that the difference between IPS and TN and not HUGE like some make them out to be. Is this true?
By the way, I read that you can only see the advantage of a 120 Hz monitor if you can actually run your games at 120 fps. Will my build even have the horsepower to run new FPS games at 120 fps?
