6 cores won't help with gaming, mostly for highly threaded applications (video compression or 3D rendering).
RAM is cheap, but there is a diminishing return for now past 8GB, except if you run professional software (3D modeling, photoshop on BIG images or virtual machines).
SSD is still your best bet for a smooth experience.
