Default Re: Stubborn screen res problem

I took a look at the file I posted here. Not much in it.
It was transfered to a pendrive from my linux system and sent from a windows system. I had a feeling the double "period" in the filename would confuse windows.
I do not know what happened to the file, or if I was able to read it correctly.

It does not matter...

I logged into my linux system the next day, after taking the steps I took the day before.
It refused to load the nvidia drivers that were previously working (yes, they it up in an undesired res, but the driver was working). I tried to fix it but could not. I went into /etc/X11 and restored the xorg.conf file from backup. It didn't work.

I gave up.
I wiped the UBUNTU install and have put Debian in it's place.

I am now having issues getting 3d acceleration under Debian, the wiki on that is not very complete and assumes (in the spot I am stuck at) that I can some how figure out what the string ${VERSION} is supposed to be.
Maybe someone cane help...

# m-a auto-install nvidia-kernel${VERSION}-source

I am running debian 6. uname -r gives me 2.6.32--5-amd64
and I have a GTX550 TI graphic card installed.
