That's the best thing about the update I thought and now they are saying we can't have it? If this happens Apple just lost major points with me.

Yeah, just the 4, not the 4s. I would say that I'm super disappointed but I rarely use GPS anymore so who cares.
I also found out that my MBP is "just old enough" not to support Airplay Mirroring to my Apple TV. Very, very pissed about that. Hopefully someone will hack that feature to work.
