I haven't had a crash in months after disabling VDPAU everywhere I could (only occasional pink walls etc., see my gallery: http://imgur.com/a/yjxRl
:)). Finally I got good chunk of Xid errors when trying to run RAGE in WINE (I guess it tries to use CUDA?) and like 2 weeks later the system crashed so hard alt-sysrq-b didn't work. "Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context" in the log.
It's still better than the situation on older kernels though ;)
