It seems that Samsung is pushing really hard for the promotion of their Galaxy S3 smartphones, at least in the US market and the video above shows what can be done in 3D movie theaters equipped with the necessary motion sensing technology together with a lot of marketing money. In this interactive 3D crowd motion game the audience is engaged to wave their hands moving a virtual Galaxy S3 either left or right in order to touch another S3 to share content between the devices. The game is made in stereo 3D format with the idea to engage the audience even more, though the smartphone itself has absolutely nothing to do with stereoscopic 3D support (Samsung still hasn't introduced a 3D-capable smartphone).
As you can see from the video embedded above it is not very easy to make the whole audience move their hands together in either left or right direction and there are moments in the game where it doesn't matter which direction you are going to move, making it a bit more confusing. Still nice and fun way to engage the audience of a movie theater with a clever ad in stereoscopic 3D format, before actually showing the new Spiderman in 3D or Katie Perry concert in 3D. The interactive game was produced by Audience Entertainment/NCM with the live action used in the game shot by Geneva Film Co.
and they were also consulting the 3D for the rest of the game which is actually computer generated 3D graphics. Anyone that has already seen this in a movie theater and have tried the interactive 3D game from Samsung is welcome to share first hand experience‚?¶ ;)
