Dumped the 550Ti + 6200TC, and installed a single 2GB evga GT 640 (USD$95AR), which lets me do 3D-accelerated triple screen using TwinView. It's performing fine for desktop usage @ 3600x1600 even with KDE desktop effects. Driver 304.37, 64-bit, screens rotated and all.

Just for reference in case someone else stumbles in here via web search:
DFP-0: DVI by the motherboard (dual link)
DFP-1: HDMI (single link)
DFP-2: the other DVI port (dual link)
